Anti-Deportation activists
have dubbed Labours' new bill 'The Immigration and Aparthied Act'. It
comes into force on April 1st and will make life for asylum seekers unbearable.
Asylum seekers continue to
look for safe haven due to the continuing wars, repression and torture.
But instead of defending the human rights of these people, Jack Straw
and New Labour, make coditions worse. Scandalously Straw aims to show
refugees that Britian iis not a 'soft touch'!

Three Kurdish children froze
to death in a refrigerated lorry smuggling them from Iraq to Greece. They
were in a group of refugees that had paid £1000 each for thejourney.

This stance is encouraging
racism and increasing activity of the far-right. The fascist National
Front have recently leafletted Margate saying, 'We only want our country
back'. They are organising a march in Margate on Sat 8h April.
Local anti-racists are organising
a counterdemo. Socialists and trade unionists need to oppose Labour's
scapegoating of asylum seekers, aiming to build a united movement for
civil rights, decent housing and fully funded services for all.
